Owner/Teacher, Tanna Trimble-Wright, has been an Illinois State Board Educator since 1994. Certified in both Special Education and Early Childhood Education, Tanna has years of teaching experience in the public school setting in and around Champaign, Illinois since 1995. She created an at home preschool in 2003 in Winona Lake, Indiana and developed Mission Point Community Church's children's ministry in Winona Lake, Indiana in 2010. She started The Wright Start Preschool and licensed childcare in 2017. Tanna has 4 children of her own: Noah, Mickelson, Annika, and Faith.
Tanna understands the importance of getting a jump start on education at an early age. Children learn best through experiences.
I embrace a learning environment that will prepare children for life. The classroom is separated into various learning centers that promote skill development through various hands-on activities and experiences. Visiting teachers offer weekly classes on music education and crafts. Learning happens outside the classroom as well. Weekly field trips taken in our 15 passenger van equipped with 13 carseats give my students experiences they will never forget.
Your needs and your child's needs are my top priority. My focus is on independence, social- emotional growth, communication skills and gaining real life experiences. I work closely with parents and our community to work with network and services and provide high-quality experiences and education.
Students learn from first- hand and concrete experiences as well as various forms of experiences (story- telling, puppet theater, listening to others, reading a book, looking at pictures, traveling to locations, creating things).
Learning isn't merely about academic pursuits, it's also about life skills. This is particularly important in early learning as this is when children begin to form learning habits and explore the world around them. This is why experiential education plays a significant role in your child's early development-it is quite literally learning by doing.
With the right teaching style, experiential learning encourages children to be exploratory, expressive and communicative.
I understand that new experiences or changes in routine can feel overwhelming and scary to young children. I show students what to expect. I reassure them. I prepare my students to meet and trust the people who will care for them in our communities.

The Wright Start has been wonderful for my son. I have seem a notable difference in his social skills and level of independence after 6 months. The field trips and hands on learning are two of my favorite aspects of the program. I am so glad I found The Wright Start! Thank you Tanna for doing a fantastic job.
Our whole family loves the Wright Start!
Our kids have learned so much. Not only with academics but with learning respect for themselves and others and learning about serving others in the community.
The field trips are always planned with the child i mind- how can they benefit from a new experience.
My son has learned so much and is so very proud of the work he can accomplish- Tanna really let’s the kids be a part of everything. From making their own snacks, to going on nature walks to gather their own items for crafts, picking vegetables from the garden.
We highly recommend the Wright Start!
We love The Wright Start! Tanna is a wonderful teacher. She is very patient and kind. She is always looking for fun ways to help the kids learn. They do a lot of hands on learning and learning through play. The small class size enables them to do some really fun things you don’t normally see in a preschool. They do a lot of baking while incorporating math and practical living skills. We always enjoy eating the sweet treats that come home! They also take a lot field trips to different places around the community. It’s really neat to see every thing they learn by being out in the community and experiencing new things! I always love to hear about what they are learning and see what fun projects they bring home. I can’t say enough great things about Tanna and The Wright Start! I would definitely recommend it!
